Know Your Limitations

1 Corinthians 10:13 – “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
Okay, let’s just keep it real. We have all been in situations where we thought we were in total control. We knew we could handle whatever the influences the day might present. We could have been in a meeting that seemed to go awry or placed in the midst of conflict that seemed to escalate; maybe even on a date that wasn’t panning out to be what we expected. No matter what the cause we all are fully aware of the effect. If we’re not given an option for escape things might not turn out in our favor.
God tells us through this letter to the church at Corinth from Paul that temptation is just a part of life and we need to be on guard because although temptation is all around God provides a way of escape. Are we astute enough to recognize our escape routes? Are we so mesmerized by the allure of the moment that we miss our clues to ‘GET OUT”? While God does save us from extraneous problems and traps we must be alert enough to step through the door of escape. Don’t be fooled thinking that you can handle things or that it’s no big deal – temptation is just the lure – like cheese on a trap – the real bite comes later. When the option arises – take advantage of God’s release and let go, leave, stop talking, start walking and know your limitations.
“Every day is a good day; it is up to us to make it a GREAT day. Be blessed! Rev. Dr. JoAnn
