No Fear

1 John 4:18 – “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
Over the past week our neighborhood has experienced a few break-in where burglars have kicked in doors and stolen hard earned goods from the homes of my neighbors. It of course has left a sense of urgency amongst the residents as we discuss ways to secure our homes against such attacks, but also it has brought to our minds that the best defense against evil is the offense of love and prayer.
When these offenders choose to perpetrate crimes there is really little we can do about it. It has often been said that if someone really wants to steal your car or break into our home they will do it. Our best thought is not so much about worrying over the likelihood of an occurrence but to do the best we can to safeguard ourselves and put our trust in God for his protection.
Like many of my neighbors I am exploring ways to be more secure but my first reaction was to give God praise for his protection. We never know what criminal element is watching as we go forth in our day, but we do know that we have a God who sits high yet looks low as his eyes canvas the horizon. He is everywhere at all times and ever knowledgeable about all things. My prayers were for thanksgiving. First that my neighbors were not home when the intruders came so that there was not conflict or potential loss of life and secondly for guarding my home against assault. We cannot and must not live in fear. God’s perfect love is our shield.
Every day is a good day; it is up to us to make it a GREAT day! Live Fearlessly and Victoriously! Be blessed! Dr. JoAnn
