Cast Your Cares

Psalm 55:22 (NIV) – “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

   The place is here and the time is now!  Whatever overriding concern or issue that troubles your heart needs to be given to God.  He knows that our trials and concerns weigh us down and impede or stop our progress; therefore he instructs us through the teachings of Paul to rid ourselves of these cares.  We all have a tendency to take things to God in prayer and gently placing them down at the altar and then picking them right back up again.  This is especially true when we are impatient for a resolution or result.  God tells us to cast our burdens upon him  The idea here is to forcibly discard or throw our troubles unto him and to leave them.

   Sometimes we have gotten so used to carrying the unnecessary weight that when it is removed ironically we miss the pressure.  God promises to sustain us through the transitoin.  Like addicts we don’t want to be controlled by the problem and God helps to sustain us while we kick the habit.  We cannot do it alone.  Isolate the problem and drop kick it to God. He is more than capable of carrying and handling the load.
