Treats - No Tricks!

Ephesians 2:2 – “Yes, in the past your lives were full of those sins. You lived the way the world lives, following the ruler of the evil powers that are above the earth. That same spirit is now working in those who refuse to obey God.”
As children dress in their costumes and seek treats to fill their pumpkin shaped baskets, be sure to instill in them the love that God has for all of his children and that they have no need to fear imaginative ghosts, goblins and zombies. Dress your children in whimsical garb, “Superman, ‘Spiderman’ ‘the Flash’, Princess Ana; or costumes that reflect who they want to be when they grow up – businessmen, lawyers doctors, dancers, teachers, etc. Don’t emulate the world with images of blood-drenched amputees, demonic spirits and the walking dead. Witches and followers of Satan are real and we should not glorify the evil powers of this world and their desire to instill fear. Our children are vulnerable to attack in ways we might not even be aware of as we allow them to succumb to the terrors that lurk in dark images. Many community centers and churches are giving upbeat, family oriented celebrations in lieu of dangerous door-to-door trick-or-treating. Enjoy bobbing for apples, playing harvest related games and spend quality time sharing love with your children. With God there are no tricks – only treats.
Every day is a good day; it is up to us to make it a GREAT day! Don’t be distracted; stay focused on your purpose. Be blessed! Dr. JoAnn
