Philippians 3:13 (NIV) – “Brothers
and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one
thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead”
Paul emphasized the importance of not looking back but
focusing on what is ahead. We must not
become paralyzed into inactivity because of pining over past troubles, trials,
failures or mishaps. We all have
instances when our plans have fallen short, blown up in our faces or just
evaporated like mist in the hot sun; yet we must not allow these setbacks to
paralyze us and hinder any hope of future progress.
As today’s scripture states, we might not have a total
grip on the handle of what we want; we might not have completed the total task
or even have a potential finish date in sight; but we must not dwell on what
has already passed. God renews tender
mercies each day and we should take advantage of them by living to the fullest. Don’t be paralyzed by what ‘woulda’, ‘coulda’,
or ‘shoulda’. Stop beating up on
yourself about stuff no longer in your control.
Take a firm grip on reality and enjoy what God is unfolding for you in
this season. Forget what is behind and
press, press, press for the best that is yet to come!
Every
day is a good day; it is up to us to make it a GREAT day! Be blessed!
