Only a Scratch!

Psalm 147:3 – “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
I visited the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church yesterday and Pastor Raphael Warnock told of a member who was involved in an incident where he was cut off in traffic at a freeway exit. This caused the church member to careen over the embankment. Onlookers who stopped thought for sure that the person in the car had perished, but the gentleman exited the car with only a deep scratch. Surely it was only God – surely, surely. Only God! From the look of the accident and the sight of the vehicle it could have only been God who protected him from certain death. Although it was already miraculous that he lived, God could have allowed him to walk away completely injury-free; but the scar from the scratch will serve as a reminder of God’s love and protection.
Look at your life– what do your scars remind you of? Don’t think on the incidents or the tragedies that might have produced the scars, but think on the God who saved you, set you free, gave you another chance, forgave and repositioned you. God left you with mere scratches where you could have been maimed – so wear the scars with pride; they are your evidence that God loves you and will always be there to protect and heal.
Every day is a good day; it is up to us to make it a GREAT day! Don’t get distracted – stay focused on your purpose. Be blessed! Dr. JoAnn
